Just jumping in here, does the Redmi note 7 work in Toronto? Im with Public Mobile right now.

Thought? Do you think it will get cheaper than this very soon?
Both this and the pro variant will work as long as you buy the global version (linked in first post). Don't buy global ROM.

The price on these don't vary much.

+1 These are low margin phones for Xiaomi, big discounts don't happen.

That was a great deal, but it's now a dated and sucky experience. Stuck on Android 7 and I doubt it will get security updates much longer. Camera is pretty awful by 2019 standards. Slow and awful CPU.

Advice: Sell it for $60 on Kijiji and get the Umidigi A5 Pro, or the Redmi 7, or Redmi Note 7.

I'm gonna sell my daughter's Moto E4 when the new $120 Umidigi A5 arrives.
Good advice! When will you think to received the A5. It`s on pre sale.. And did you found a good case for it ? Thanks

What's the best/safest way to purchase from a store on Aliexpress as Paypal is not an option? Go direct with VISA/MC?

I pay with my credit card. If your credit card has fraud detection, the payment will not go through until you call the card company to confirm that payment is legitimate.

I don't think you should be worried about your payment. AliExpress is processing your order, not the individual store just like eBay.

Actually it's more annoying than that. If the 'protection' kicks in the payment is blocked, not just suspended.

After you call to confirm you have to then call the vendor and have them resubmit the payment. Usually at that point the vendor has just cancelled the order (because of non payment) and you have to do a new order. With some vendors that means you loose out on whatever deal you were after.

Annoying.
