'All the Money in the World' Getty kidnap thriller Ridley Scott Mark Wahlberg Kevin Spacey (to be replaced)

Trailer was released a long time ago but the film has gained some new found notoriety because it featured Kevin Spacey in a showy role as onetime richest man in the world J. Paul Getty

Now word came out last night that Ridley Scott has chosen to quickly reshoot all of the Spacey scenes with replacement Christopher Plummer

Reportedly, Spacey only worked on the film for a week or so but I don't recall such a replacement so late in the game before as the unaltered release is still December 22

See Spacey in the role while you can (with all the prosthetics he looks like Walking Dead actor Scott Wilson (Herschel))

Looks like Sony has erased the first trailer but the internet doesn't forget

In another world
Kevin does look like Herschel!
Would Scott Wilson portray a better Getty than Kevin? (no makeup required).

Christopher Plummer doesn't need much makeup either.

Here's an interview with Ridley Scott about the process of reshooting it with Christopher Plummer. Pretty amazing how an industry veteran can get it done so smoothly and without panic.

A little OT but FX released a promo for its series version of the Getty kidnapping (and aftermath)

Here another Canadian acting titan Donald Sutherland portrays the billionaire so some may compare his take to Christopher Plummer's (much lauded) performance
