Is this allowed? Hidden camera in house..
So I just moved into a house that the owner lives in as well with his partner. Its shared everything, with 3 other roommates living here as well.
So recently he told me that he has a hidden camera(s) around the house to make sure nothing gets broken or stolen because there are so many people coming in and out of the house.
He wont tell me where it is but assures me that there is one(or possibly more) on the main floor.
There are none in my bedroom or bathroom.
Is this allowed? He never told me about it when I moved in.
If it is allowed, can he not tell me where it is.
It is his house, I have not signed a lease or any contract so basically I am just renting out the room so I have no real rights, so he could ultimately kick me out, but just curious about the situation.

sigh.... residential private property. Owner can claim it's for security purposes, which is perfectly legal. Otherwise, having a security system in a house by say ADT would be illegal.
Don't like it, rent another place._______________

Creepy, but the key is:
So I guess you havent got too much to worry about. Although I'd bet he's just bluffing hoping the threat of taped evidence will keep you guys on the straight and narrow. There are none in my bedroom or bathroom.
Only one way to find out for sure!_______________
One more year of tellin' it like it is.

Oh, it's lonesome away from your kindred and all,
By the campfire at night where the wild dingos call,
But there's nothing so lonesome, so dull or so drear,
Than to stand in the bar of a pub with no beer.

It is his property, he can have cameras if he wants. No lease signed, he can kick you out whenever he wants, and you are free to leave whenever you want. I still think bathroom cameras would be illegal, but apparently isn't the problem.
Just look for the cameras, he could just be bluffing.
