Not the best price in my mind. If you want one and can match it to another store that would be good.
What is / was the best price in your mind? (SED, 5-year warranty, 90k IOPS read/write)

It looks like the BX300 is just a little slow than MX500, unnoticeable. And MLC lasts longer right? And the MX500 cost $30 (23%) more. I will stick with BX300 for now.
Your text to link here...
In real world it's faster - noticeable. The BX300 is entry level, MX500 is flagship - a big difference.
The BX300 has 3 year warranty, the MX500 has 5 year warranty.
The MX 500 is a newer card with several other advantages in tech as well.
For $30 more ~ I'd suggest getting the MX500

Additionally, MLC vs TLC was something to consider 5 years ago (2013), these days (since 2017) it's virtually a moot point.

Thanks OP, was close to being in for one, but then I took someone else's suggestion and snagged a 500GB Samsung 860 EVO from Newegg's eBay store (with the 15% off coupon) for a few dollars less than this MX500.

Weren't drives with 500/500 read write common a couple years ago? 500/300 is good now?
Those were high-end SATA drives, all current high-end drives are now NVMe and about 5 times the performance. At this point SATA drives are all about value proposition (and this is a pretty good deal if that's what you want). For that max SATA performance I believe you can still get the Samsung 850 Pro, but you're going to pay significantly for that last 10%.

Thanks, grabbed one to put in an external enclosure. Definitely agree, MX500 over the BX300 any day of the week.
