Worth it? Or should I spring for this Celestron 21035 70mm Travel Scope on sale for $87.97 ? I'm just not sure how much interest there will be yet with my kids.

This one is a pass for me. The glass on low end telescopes have way too much distortion. It pretty much makes it useless other then looking at the moon.
Pro tip - If you can't stop thinking about it ....BUY IT !

Any recommendations on a decent scope for kids? I don't want to blow a bunch on money on something like the Celestron 127EQ which looks nice. What about the Celestron 70mm Travel Scope?

http://www.boomsbeat.com/articles/10939 ... e-2016.htm. This is the link of the best 5 telescopes for kids in 2016 and GEERTOP 90X 360X50mm is among them. By the way, at the picture looks better than all of them. And the price (has not significantly changed from 2016) is quite affordable in order for your child become closer to the stars :)

That site's reviews are worthless. I think it's worth paying more for the entry level Celestrons.

Yeah man, at least get a Celestron. The stereotypical home astronomy story begins in predictable failure and buyers' remorse, due to unacceptable scopes that are toys rather than tools. Years ago, when I badly wanted a telescope, I was advised by multiple, reputable sources that a light bucket is often the way to go, in terms of value and instant gratification of seeing the most celestial objects quickly. That is, a Dobsonion type telescope (made by all the major players), which is the best bang for your buck, assuming you don't need portability and you have enough space.
