[Amazon.ca] Amazonbasics 100 pack alkaline batteries: as low as $18.63 (AA) / $14.91 (AAA) with PRIME (updated)

Image

This deal may not be for everyone, but may be useful for those who want to stockpile some alkaline batteries for emergencies. Just noticed the amazonbasics 100 pack of alkaline (non-rechargeable) AA batteries are selling for $22.73 *$22.91 **$23.29 and the AAA batteries are selling for $18.96 **$18.64.

*updated price april 24, 9 am EST
** updated price april 25 9:30 am EST

If you have a PRIME membership you can save an additional 20% off at checking making the total

100 AA batteries
------------------------------
$18.18 before tax (comes out to about 73 cents a 4-pack)
*$18.33 before tax (still comes out to about 73 cents a 4-pack)
**$18.63 before tax (comes out to about 75 cents a 4-pack)

100 AAA batteries
-----------------------------
$15.17 before tax (comes out to about 61 cents a 4-pack)
**$14.91 before tax (comes out to about 60 cents a 4-pack)

Seems like a much better deal than the dollarama Panasonic batteries if you buy batteries in bulk. From my personal experience these are higher quality and last longer (amazon claims these have a 10-years anti-leakage shelf life).

Although I've switched over to rechargeable NIMH batteries, it's always good to have some alkaline batteries around for specific devices that require them.

Also ebates is currently 4% however I believe cashback is only 1% for this item as it oddly falls under Health and Personal care :\! Enjoy!

edit: For GCR cashback, to add the item to cart if you can not find it thru amazon search, click on Department (upper left corner) and select Health and Personal care category > click on 'Bestsellers' link at the top row > you will find the 100 pack of AA and AAA listed in the top 20 bestselling items (currently #4 and #9 respectively)

anyone can comment on quality? I've never bought Amazonbasics stuff before, is it mediocre quality or can compare to Costco KS brand quality?

It's hard to tell how these AA batteries are performing for me because I've used them recently and waiting for them to die. The regular ones would last me months so if these last as much than we're good. With that being said I've been using the D batteries from Amazon and they were surprisingly longer lasting than the Duracell which were both used for a baby swing and some toys for my kids. Seeing both are from Amazon I will suspect the AA will outperform the quality batteries based on my personal experience having using the D batteries.

For the price you can't go wrong and even if they are crap they outperform the Panasonic's from Dollarama and still cheaper.

Why are you hoping? At these prices it's better to throw these out than having to consume more electricity and time to charge them.

If anyone wants to split the 100-pack let me know. Or we can buy one of each and split both so we have 50/50 of each

It's not about the money but seriously having 100 batteries of AA and AAA (200 batteries) is simply way too much for my needs. Most of my stuff is wall-powered I still have 20 AA batteries left

Isn't that true for any brand with the volume of sales? It has 4.5 stars on the american site with nearly 13,000 reviews. That's just reviews, now Imagine how many they've sold. There's bound to be bad apples regardless of brand.

Right, because price is the only thing that ever matters. I mean, that's why we still use leaded gasoline. Right?

Great price for batteries, but geez who needs 100 of each?

Just make sure that you don't store them in the freezer, as for alkaline batteries it has a marginal benefit (something like 2% in preserved capacity per year) and can cause the contacts to corrode or otherwise deteriorate the battery. Store them in a cool dry place, and make sure that: a) they won't short to each other b) if one leaks it won't destroy anything.
