After some expensive and lengthy lessons, I won't buy another Chinese phones because they are more headache than anything. I rather pay a bit more to grab some deals down in the south (like $199 G4 Plus I just got). I am also into ROM flashing and none of these except the Moto suits my need.

At least if I don't like it or something is wrong, I get warranty.
Can you tell us where you got the G4 Plus for $199? Was that USD or CAD? Thanks!

Thanks.

I was really considering the Zenphone 3, but this also looks impressive. Banggood lists the price at $271 CDN which would be cheaper than the $250 + Tax for the Zenphone Laser. Is Bangood the most reputable and cheapest place to pick one up? I'm replacing an aging Nexus 4.
I would also like to know if Banggood is the place to get this.. or are there better options? Thanks.

Zenfone 3 are really good phones, but this "Laser" variant is not fast enough for power users. It could be fine for basic usage. I bought it, and ended up returning it and got a higher spec'ed regular Zenfone 3 (SD625, 4GB RAM) instead. The faster model is selling for $399 now and it is worth the extra cost. I got it for $349.99 but that deal is not currently available anywhere.
Thank you for explaining the difference btween the Laser and regular variant. I have been getting confused with these phones, and this helps.

I swear my only posts on RFD are about this phone but here goes...!

I have the Lenovo Zuk Z2 and it's got a SD820 and an Adreno 530 with 4GB RAM and I've been super impressed with it. Also you can get it as low as $230CAD
Can you share where you can get this for as low as $230 CAD? I was trying to buy the Moto G4 Plus off kijiji, but there's crap only on Calgary Kijiji.

I can tell you it won't be local! But this site is where I use to track prices for all my overseas/China electronic purchases.

At the moment it's up to about $235CAD but the prices change pretty frequently, going lower and also much higher; I paid $232 I believe and surprisingly it arrived in only 16 days (I chose Royal Mail from G3ARB3ST).

Which site are you talking about, G3ARB3ST? That's where you order it from? I'm guessing you can't post a link? Do I have to worry about it working with public mobile LTE or does it have all the bands for canada LTE?

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately that takes you to the 5" model. The version that has been talked about I the thread is the 5.7" model. This link should be direct. It looks like Banggood is the lowest price.

Just to let you guys know, the phone doesn't have NFC. Android pay is rumored to be coming soon which wouldn't work on this phone.

You mean it won't work on Rogers LTE network?
It works perfectly fine on Rogers LTE. My wife is using it now.

Now we have mixed reviews on the phone. She loves it, the look and the feel in hand, and she actually likes ZenUI.. But...... It died on day 19. Would boot, then reboot, over and over (bootloop) .

Rma it and now it works fine again. So hopefully it was just a one off. Ever manufacturer had a bad one every now and then.

I've been using a Laser 2 for the better part of a year; it is speedy enough for pretty much everything I've used it for. i don't game much on my phone but the ZF2 Laser will easily handle 1080p video (I stream from our NAS), it has room for (at last count) close to 200 apps and there's support from Lineage. If the ZF3 Laser gets custom ROM support I'd certainly consider it.

OT, now USD $219. This is the 4GB/64GB model:
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/ ... t1644.html

Most of the phones from China that has SD820 should work with the Big 3 LTE here, the radio is part of the SoC.
thanks for the link! I noticed that the 16G version is $189USD, do you think the extra $ is worth it considering it has a microSD slot that supports microSDXC cards with up to 128GB of memory for additional storage capacity? I know only 2G RAM, is this bad? I don't game, but I use a lot of apps for fitness, and pocket, and maps etc.
