I bought a Browning Xbolt earlier this year and still haven't purchased a scope. Any good deals on a longer range variable scope?

This is for short range (within 100 yards). For hunting rifles... Get a 3x9-40 at least .

What is your budget? And what are you planning to do with that rifle?

You should be fine. It's in stock and you'll probably get it before Oct. 31 - but your receipt should say todays date.
The terms indicate: All rebate requests must be received no later than 11/15/17

Tight timing though *unless you get 2 day guaranteed shipping (or price match somewhere locally)

I think I would like to hunt eventually. I see scopes ranging from 100$ to the thousands but I'm not educated to know what is junk, and what is overkill if that makes sense. What's the cheapest scope you'd recommend and what scope would you go with if it was yours?

Often the really inexpensive options are for rimfire rifles that do not have the recoil of a larger caliber centrefire like yours.

As suggested above, a good value option and very usable for hunting is a 3-9X scope.

As for how much to spend......so many factors, but if looking for decent value and basic reliable performance, probably budget about $200 + rings.

If you were shooting a lot and wanted to do more range work on paper, I'd suggest spending more $$, but for basic needs and any hunting,
the above will more than suffice.

Here's a cheap Bushnell that has side parallax and with rings, and installation, probably $200.....$40 MIR also.

CHIA's link to the Bushnell Trophy extreme in 4-12x40 is not a bad choice and price after rebate. Scope is entry level with life time warranty. If you upgrade down the road you can always move this to a rim file rifle or sell it.
