[Amazon Canada] CanaKit Raspberry Pi 3 B+ Starter Kit (32 GB, Premium Black Case) $79.99

Normally around $99.

Not as hot as arrow.com offering, but you get a case, heatsinks, HDMI, 32gb microSD, and a case for about $45 more.

That seems really expensive for a bunch of really cheap add-ons. I love the fact they include bluetooth and wifi in the add-on feature section what that is embedded in the pi itself. For $12 more CAD you could 2 Pis at regular price.

What would be a cheaper option if I only wanted the kit without the sd card?

Ya looking myself in case the card was iffy... But it looks like the standard one you get with the Pi(with noobs on it). I got a similar card from a Microsoft kit before.

There is this deal but u have to find a case too from the same guys. canakit 3b... with 5 dollar coupon off. You get a HDMI with the ops deal though... But I've got those lying around now

I think board + case + shipping would be just below $70 cad (assuming u can get both from the same store/seller). So $80 is good deal for this kit, but I really don't need all the accessories.

I bought a CanaKit with just the power supply and heat sinks for $69.99 a month or so ago. I'm quite happy with it. It wasn't really a hot price, but I wanted next-day prime delivery.

I'd buy from them again. If I was looking for a kit now, I'd seriously consider this.

Well you don't really NEED a case, but you could get the accessories at a fraction of the cost from China, and you could use some old cell phone charger you have lying around to power it. You can print a case in a few hours with a 3d printer as well. By all means if you want a full simple kit then go at it, but the reason a lot of places only sell in kits is because this is how they make real money off them since the mark up on the board is marginal.

This is a good deal for what you get.

$50 - Pi
$10 - Power Supply
$5 - Case
$10 - MicroSD

That leaves $5 for HDMI, card reader and heat sinks.

I have a Model B Rev 2 and am running DietPi with PiHole. Will 3B+ be an overkill for this purpose? Will I see any performance benefits? I am not expecting to do anything else. Just figuring out if the upgrade will be worth.

Probably overkill honestly.

I also need it just for this. Actually, I just want it as a secondary PiHole for HA in case one kicks the bucket.
