Mechanical is the way to go.ShyGrizzly wrote: ↑So what do you recommend?

Of course, I'd take Swiss watches over this anytime. But sub $200 mechanical watches have horrible movements. A proper mechanical watch needs to be tuned every few years. So the cost of ownership is beyond the sticker price.

+1, although I've bought a couple of Invictas, for a little over $100 each, with the NH35A movement that have proven to be very reliable and accurate. But there's a time and place for quartz. The Citizen posted here is a good deal for an office watch. Just wish it had the perpetual calendar.ShyGrizzly wrote: ↑Of course, I'd take Swiss watches over this anytime. For cheaper watches, quartz is the one for me.

They can be useful if you need to time something. It's a timer. The right circle is a 24hour hand if you have trouble converting 12hour clock to a 24hour clock lol. Otherwise, its not necessary but could come in handy.email2patel wrote: ↑do those tiny hand function needed in real use? I have on my invicta but never needed to use. Do any RFDers knows real use of it?

Orient Japanese movements are very accurate. Better than Seiko or most entry, mid level swiss. Give them a try, bambino, mako, Ray, esteem etc.Rogido wrote: ↑+1, although I've bought a couple of Invictas, for a little over $100 each, with the NH35A movement that have proven to be very reliable and accurate.
