I have one of these and it stopped working after 1.5 years. During that time, I probably only used it 10 times or less.

Also, it doesn't seem to work when plugged into USB2.0 ports. It worked fine in USB3.0 ports.

Overall, I was not impressed with the build quality of this HD dock. I have some old 5 year old Vantec docks that still work to this day.

USB C version is $40, can just use adapter from C to USB 3 can't you?

I'm hopping in as the cost to clone a drive is like $70 so I can use this for the wife's laptop once and it's more than paid for!

Thanks OP!

They've still got lightening deal on 3.1. just trying to decide if it's worth extra money for the USB3.1 - probably not

$42.15

I would be concerned about the lack of active or passive cooling.

I want to give it a try but the lack of cooling seems to give some issue per the review. Wondering what is the cost for a unit with better cooling

USB3.1 gen1 only goes up to 5Gbps.

Mind you, the SATA III interface is still the bottleneck regardless of whether you have 10Gbps in the chain or not.
