I've noticed this dropping a little bit at a time. I don't think it will be long before it goes to the 19.99 or 20.99 we see recently.

But if you want to watch it right now what's a couple bucks.

Saw this film in its theatrical release.
Loved it.
However, I'm not sure if I want to spend 2.25 times on something that I previously enjoyed. Even if I factor in the wife and child, (who didn't see it in its theatrical release), I'm still losing, over bringing them along to the theatre.
Yes, there is the convenience of repeat play, but I've seen hundreds of DVD/Blu-Ray titles in garage sales. How many times can you watch 'Pretty Woman'? Or 'Snakes on a Plane"?

Dunkirk, on the other hand, should be subsidized and given away free by the Allied governments.

There are in-depth comparisons of 4K UHD Blu-Ray vs AppleTV 4K streams online that indicate it's difficult to discern any noticeable difference from a proper viewing distance. Considering this movie is on for half this price via AppleTV, in Dolby Vision via the AppleTV and this is not a Dolby Atmos release on Blu-Ray... I bought it for $12.99 via Apple (actually less considering all the iTunes cards I bought at 20% off). Basically the discs are for people with poor internet connections and or purists.

That said, I can't recall if Dunkirk changes aspect ratios like several of Nolan's other movies. If so, the ATV streams do not and that becomes a much larger reason to own the disc version... which is why I didn't buy the Dark Knight Collection when it was $29.99 the other week.

I have it on 4k disc, the aspect ratios do change. This movie looks incredible, especially on an OLED.

This 4k disc's video quality is right up there with Planet Earth 2, and likely the best for a movie (so far).

Geez, is $52 the normal price for a 4K disc? Seems kinda pricey, but I've never bought one before.

$30-$35 for a new release is standard really. Anything higher is just for show.

My opinion as someone that really enjoys learning about the history of this period...

This movie was extremely boring.

This is the ONLY ultra HD movie I own on a disk that has neither Dolby Vision nor Dolby Atmos. I am very surprised to see both missing on supposedly a marquee release. Didn't watch it yet but in technical terms it is behind other releases. I would not be surprised that it gets re-released later (as a "director's cut" or something) to ensure they get your money twice.
