Ebates screws me everytime. Adblock off, item wasn't added to cart before the portal link, etc etc. Never got it, always need to email. Their tricks worked on me last time, it was only like $3 and I didn't bother going through the hassle.

for ebates you can have items on your wish list before using ebates link... this is what i've been doing for a year now. got this tip from chat support.

GCR says the following in their amazon info box:
Conditions :
You must click from GCR before adding an item to the cart or Wish List.
You cannot use GCR to pay for an item in the cart if you did not use GCR to add the item to the cart.
You cannot click on the reorder button. You must use GCR to add the item to the cart
You cannot use GCR to move an item from the wish list to cart if you did not use GCR to add the item to the wish list.

Based on the above, I've always assumed this holds true for ebates too. So my painful process is to:

1. Empty my wishlist, cart and "save for later" of the item.
2. Establish the referral via ebates.
3. Manually re-search for the item, and place it in my cart again.

Steps 1 and 2 I do interchangeably.

Does anyone know better? I'd certainly love to stop doing this if it isn't required.

yep... what i do is buy gift card from a supermarket to trigger credit card rewards then use the gift card to buy from amazon. ebates will still kick in with gift cards.

Why get the gift card? Do you get a higher return while buying from a grocery store with your card?

He probably has 3-4% grocery cash back card.

Keep in mind you won't get extended warranty or purchase protection, insurance if you pay with gift cards. If you pay directly with CC, you'll receive the benefits of the CC.

Agree with people here about the cash back not always being automated. More than half the time I have to fill out the missing form and upload receipts etc.

i'm not gonna bite the bait this time. if I do not really NEED buy anything just to buy for 8%, it's still waste money. why ebates doesn't have 8%, 12% when amazon running some major deals, think about it. maybe ebates takes the much better cash back from amazon.

eBates is really bad when it comes to Amazon.

I don’t think I’ve ever gotten cash back without specifically requesting it. It’s a headache and almost not worth it most of the time.

Successful tactic by them. Easy and effective.
