[Amazon Canada] Echo Input (Pre-Order) $29.99

Amazon is releasing a new Alexa device without the speaker. This one connects to your own speaker system via 3.5mm audio cable or Bluetooth.

Not something I can use, but it seems to be a good introductory price. Releases March 28th.

Besides the smaller profile, I don’t see the point in this. To my knowledge, you can accomplish the exact same thing using a Dot (I personally have a Dot hooked up to a receiver for my in ceiling speaker system). The benefit of the Dot is that if you make changes to your existing AV setup where you no longer need Alexa input into it, you would still have a fully functional stand alone device. The Dot has been this price before (and lower for the previous gen I believe), so unless you need this functionality right now I don’t see any reason to get this instead of a Dot.

I don't see many either, besides that the Input is more discrete I guess.

This is neat, but for $30 (and that's the sale price!) I'd rather wait for a echo dot 3rd gen sale.
If these went down to like $10-$15 I'd maybe buy one just because.

Yes, when I set up my phone as a hot spot.
It's discrete, to put on window visor. Then I can easily retrofit my Beemer and easily control stuff.

I'm in the process of moving over to Alexa from Google, so I've preordered 2 of them. Plan to hook one up to our main floor stereo which as audio in ( better sound on the main floor) and then use the other one in the Garage connected to a blue tooth speaker for my work shop.

What stuff in your car are you talking about? Like Spotify and "Alexa, what's the weather like?"
