in all honesty.. is this thing really that much better than air cooling?
because cooler master hyper 212 can be had for 30bucks or less..

using ryzen 1500x right now.. just not sure whether it is worth it to spend 100bucks on this

The 212 has been my go to for builds ( and other people's builds ) since it came out, the h80 is a good amount better.
That being said, I don't think its worth 3x the cost. You've gotta be heavily overclocking or trying to get the absolute most out of your chip to really justify the 10 ( or less ) degrees difference in temperature you'll be seeing.

212 wins the value proposition, but these can be run whisper quiet or give you the thermal headroom to OC your chip. Also looks much cleaner if you're into the aesthetics of a PC build. It also doesnt dump any heat into the case, keeping other components cooler...

Id still wait for BF at this point though...
