QLC and 2000/1800 speed? Nah, better to just spend a bit more. Better choices like HP ex920 was around $110 for a while.

It's a QLC with NVMe, how long will it last with frequently RW? IMO, at least it is not as durable as TLC

your'e right the advertised speeds can't compete with the pro lines but it's way faster than most users would notice.

for $92+tax you're getting a drive made by Micron, with actual warranty.

HP ex920 is manufactured by a Chinese fab-for-hire operating under a Swiss shell that licensed HP's name, you're lucky to even get through to a CS agent let alone claim warranty.

If you want to pay more at least buy a Samsung/WD/Adata, don't go HP

The HP has a double sided design. Which means it might not fit in every laptop.

Of course it's even better with a Samsung, but we are comparing from the point of price here. I am more worried about the durability of a QLC than the warranty for a HP.

Slightly warm deal. Not because of what it has to offer, but because of the brand, I'd rather have something a bit more reliable.

I wouldnt worry too much about durability, it can handle enough writes to make the discussion meaningless except in a few very specific cases.
We don't know, so it's possible. And it's possible, so it's probably probable.

you can not notice diff unless heavy video editing and you will replace it long before you wear it out, no need for faster, you are just buying into the hype

$10 for the hype, not bad then. Again, it's about the price point, not about something to compare with Samsung that doubles the price. This is the $10 difference comparison by real user's benchmark:

If you are not talking about faster, in most case SATA is fast enough, and you can get a 1TB for around $160.

This is good to know. I am betting if you purchase HP machines, you will get good warranty as long the machine is under warranty its self.
I am glad to learn something new here, I never realized HP just licenced their name.

Where can you find this for $170? My amazon shows 192.99 for the 1TB.

The 1TB for $192 is even better, comparing to the MX500 SATA that is $169.

Sounds to me like you need to start looking at RFD more frequently!

My understanding is it isn't the fastest NVME drive.
Does anyone know if it would still be a significant benefit over a sata drive?
