for sever racks I would just look for used ones. Lots of full racks always available used. I want a small rack T_T

Remove front and rear doors. Remove sides. If it has a top and bottom panel remove that. Lay it down upstairs. Stand inside the rack, and lift it up, with two people. Carry it down the stairs. Once downstairs, stand it up. Remember that while it is tllted, that it will actually be taller than it is when standing, due to the corners being cubes and all that. But once you have it upright, then you just wheel it around.

Not a bad deal with free shipping :) Used racks are cheap, but they're seldom good. Too many are not nearly deep enough, don't have room for PDU's in the rear that don't either block access to equipment being rear mounted or cable management, etc.

If this was a bit cheaper, my Dell 4210 would be finding a new home.....

Agreed. I always buy them via kijiji. Usually 150 for 42h. Got half sized for 60 two weeks ago.
Dedicated crm and accounting servers in there now in locked up basement room.

+1 used.

Grabbed a Dell 4210 for $200.
Picked up a 4 post APC (non enclosed) for $50.

EDIT: Thanked anyway since I like seeing this sort of stuff posted.

May I ask what the typical RFDer does with a rack at home? Surely even the largest adult collection does not require a rack of servers...

I don't have one.
Even though I have several servers in my Lab (2 storage systems, 2 ESXi servers) running 24x7.
I just use on of those plastic racks you can buy at Home Depot. Good enough for my needs.
Looks a bit messy, but who cares :)

Here is a good deal if you are in the Toronto area......

IBM PureFlex 42U Rack and Expansion Rack - 6x PDU

https://shop.itxchange.com/OA_HTML/prod ... 739303.jsp

That 6 X PDU Expansion will sell on Ebay for $300US+ easy if you choose.

Grade A refurbished means IBM Factory Recertified (good as new)

Unit is in North Carolina but they have weekly shipments to Oakville for pickup at no cost. They will deliver for about $50 in the GTA with hydraulic lift gate.

After selling the expansion cost is about $300CDN
