I've had my 980 since the summer of 2016. Still going strong, best vacuum for dog fur. Got it for $720 from sears after an online pricing error and a week long battle with them. Thinking of upgrading to the new i7+. Well worth the money once you try it.

What is the main difference between the 960 and 980 roomba models? My dad recently got the 890 but he does not like the random cleaning and would rather map it out to clean one room or a certain area
From memory, I think the 980 has a bigger battery and detects carpets and turns on higher suction.

Great thread Ended up picking up a Neato D5 at Canadian Tire for $480. Pretty impressed with it so far!

Sorry to hijack your post, I’ve been looking at the Roomba 960/980 and xiaomi roborock s50, I’m leaning towards the roborock because of features and price but feel safer in buying a recognised brand in Canada that includes guarantee/customer support that’s comes with the roomba.
I see amazon has the xiaomi roborock s50 for $599 which seems not too bad compared to the Chinese vendors.
Anybody got any experience with either the roomba or xiaomi?
I have the Roborock. I paid $500 flat. It is better than my 700 series Roomba in basically every way.

I can't imagine this Roomba being worth the price premium.

Yup, the S50 is really good. Paid around 400 ish for it from one of the Chinese websites (Aliexpress/DHgate/etc) and it works awesome. My only gripe is the edges. It is not very good there and will miss like 1-2 CM of all the edges.

Apart from that, I have not had to do a manual vacuum in the apartment in over 6 months!

Interested in getting one. How does this work for rooms on a main floor, where there's a divider in the floor between rooms?

Be careful with dog fur with the I7+, your 980 is probably doing a better job:
