Cold? Even at version 2.2, it's a native Android tablet with excellent battery life, a company that has 24-hour support and has the chance of an upgrade. The Touchpad is running $200 on eBay at minimum, and might not get a fully functional 3.0 port as it stands.

People need to understand that all hardware will be incompatible one or two Android releases later, community based support can only go so far, and the more releases made the more diverged the hardware drivers will be (makes it harder and harder to port) also no matter how hacking suited a current tablet is developers will move on (new offering will be lower in price, easier to hack with more recent drivers available).

What matters most is whether there exist current OS that makes use of all the hardware capabilities of the tablet.

Take the gtab for example, while I do enjoy the HC experience on it I had to sacrifice the webcam, embedded flash (outside opera) and hardware acceleration now I am forced to overclock the tab (using proper kernel) to compensate for the lack of hardware acceleration.

On the other hand people are currently swearing by the latest Froyo Gtab mods (over clockable to 1.6Ghz, native HD hardware acceleration and flash support, fully functioning camera and even video chat programs), most apps are froyo compatible and there is froyo themes around that enhances the usage experience. (Though I wouldn't go back but thats just me).

If its priced right, if it's well-equipped and there exist a firmware that would make use of all its features and still be reasonably compatible with current application offerings, you can't go wrong with such purchase.

support has been good, not doubt about it. But it is also very clear that this tablet won't get upgraded. That would be fine as long as there are community support, but there is not!!!

I consider my as the nerd of android and I would max out its pretential. If I knew there is no further upgrade path of this table, I will NOT buy into it.

LePan new version with dual core 1.2Ghz and honeycomb:

http://www.amazon.ca/Pan-9-7-Inch-scree ... 0953011_19

gtfo. with 1GB ram too!

I am not familiar with dual core tablets. is it 2x1.2Ghz or 2x600Mhz?

oh, and it seems lepan is totally changing their tune on the upgrade. Either they found out it was too difficult or they are choosing not to upgrade because of their new release. They definitely said they were going to upgrade the tc970 and skipping to ICS.

I think that both are great prices.

IMHO, If you aren't a hardcore tableter or whatever, and you use a tablet for what 99% of users do (surf, email, pics, read) then the single core is fine. That dual core looks like it's top of it's class in a lot of aspects.

Agreed. If you use the $169.00 Le Pan for what it's meant for (surfing, email, pics, ereading), you can't go wrong. After all, isn't that the function of most tablets anyway? I can't imagine doing any major productivity work on a tablet.

I find it funny people dissing the Le Pan because it can't be hacked or upgraded. For such a low price, what do you expect?

For what the Le Pan is, it looks like a great value.

I'm excited to use it with the NHL Gamecenter app as a portable hockey game viewer...!

Besides, now that it's been rooted, I can assume there might be at least one custom ROM on the horizon, perhaps a 2.3 port?

Never heard of Le Pan, but I will buy it if the cute girl from newegg tells me too! :cheesygri
@_@

Seems like a decent deal for the price. Although I'd prefer to have dual core. Does it have hdmi out?
