Really? I'm looking into purchasing a DSLR and the research I've done says that a 30mb/s (or 200x) card should be more than fast enough for 1080p HD Video. What speed do you recommend?

Just remember that most cards don't live up to speeds specified. That's why it's always "up to_ mbps"ZeppelinDude93 wrote: ↑Really? If your DSLR has decent burst shooting capability you will definitely want a faster card. Sandisk Extreme or higher,, Sandisk make the best and they have lifetime warranty, 5 years for Lexar, if I'm not mistaken.ZeppelinDude93 wrote: ↑Really? I find 400x to be a good starting point for professional use, and 200x being a good basic for average consumer use.ZeppelinDude93 wrote: ↑Really? I'm not a pro at filming, but does the bitrate of a Full HD video on most cameras go higher than 10mb/s? I know that some uncompressed professionnal .mov is like 2GB for 15 secondes, but they have SSD for those kind of thing.

Most popular DSLRs will have had speed tests done using different SD cards. Try google "sdhc speed test Canon_____"ZeppelinDude93 wrote: ↑Really? Great tip - thanks! Im looking a D3200, and according to the Nikon website, the Lexar Platinum II cards have been "tested and approved" for use in the camera, so my guess is the cards should be fine. I can't seem to find any tests that have been performed on the card, let alone with the camera I'm looking at. Also, the site indicates that Class 6 cards or higher should be used for video recording. Even if the card writes at half (15mb/s) the posted speed (30mb/s), that seems like it would work?Kfox wrote: ↑Most popular DSLRs will have had speed tests done using different SD cards. Here's an example, this for the Fuji X-T1: http://alikgriffin.com/best-fuji-x-t1-m ... peed-tests
