Successfully PM'd at Staples.ca. I chatted with the online agent. She confirmed that she could PM with Amazon in this case. I placed the order, and provided the info to the agent and she applied a credit of ~$56 to the order. Got free shipping also, since it was over $50 during original order. Chat log below.

Thanks OP!

Just made an order from Amazon.ca last night, not sure if I need another 1kg bag of candies for a $5 filler though.

Almost bought 2 but realized the write speed is 200x. If you're shooting hd video it's not fast enough.

If you're after higher speeds, this is a good deal: Amazon Lexar Professional 1000x 64GB SDXC UHS-II Package of 2 for $75 This is Lexar's second fastest card, on par with Sandisk Extreme Plus UHS-1 U3 or Pro UHS-1 U1
OOS but you can still order it at this price.

My rule of thumb on flash memory .... There is NO such thing as cheap-and-fast memory cards/USB drives/SSDs ...

Really? I'm looking into purchasing a DSLR and the research I've done says that a 30mb/s (or 200x) card should be more than fast enough for 1080p HD Video. What speed do you recommend?

Just remember that most cards don't live up to speeds specified. That's why it's always "up to_ mbps"

If your DSLR has decent burst shooting capability you will definitely want a faster card. Sandisk Extreme or higher,, Sandisk make the best and they have lifetime warranty, 5 years for Lexar, if I'm not mistaken.

I find 400x to be a good starting point for professional use, and 200x being a good basic for average consumer use.

My business partner and I use Lexar Professional, 16, 32 and 64 GB CF cards along with 64 and 128 GB SD cards. We shoot with DSLR (5D MK3's 7D's and 5D MK2's) as well as with Canon XA10. In a point and shoot camera I'm sure these cards would do fine, heck, I think they might even be OK for casual use in a DSLR, but the "up to" speed (as someone else said) so you will likely get buffering issues on an DSLR. We also use Sandisk Extreme and haven't had any issues. On the opposite side, many people think 800x and 1000x speed is better, but what many don't realize is most DSLRs wont attain those speeds unless it's say, for example, a Canon 1D top of the line.

Cards that are 400x and 800x is my recommendation for professional use, but 200x is just fine for the average consumer.

I'm not a pro at filming, but does the bitrate of a Full HD video on most cameras go higher than 10mb/s? I know that some uncompressed professionnal .mov is like 2GB for 15 secondes, but they have SSD for those kind of thing.

Iirc, I think this card writes faster than 10mb/s.

Might be worth noting that the 8gb version is $4.97... Also a good deal depending on the application.

Most popular DSLRs will have had speed tests done using different SD cards. Try google "sdhc speed test Canon_____"
Here's an example, this for the Fuji X-T1: http://alikgriffin.com/best-fuji-x-t1-m ... peed-tests

Great tip - thanks! Im looking a D3200, and according to the Nikon website, the Lexar Platinum II cards have been "tested and approved" for use in the camera, so my guess is the cards should be fine. I can't seem to find any tests that have been performed on the card, let alone with the camera I'm looking at. Also, the site indicates that Class 6 cards or higher should be used for video recording. Even if the card writes at half (15mb/s) the posted speed (30mb/s), that seems like it would work?

It looks like they are clearing old stock. The new version is 300x: http://www.lexar.com/products/sdhc-sdxc-memory-cards

It all depends what you want to do. If you want 4K video and burst speeds, then U3 speeds are good. Something like this is good (albeit only 32GB) http://www.visions.ca/Catalogue/Categor ... PSDUC32GAK

That being said, this article shows that U1 should be able to handle 4K video as tested on a Panasonic GH4: http://suggestionofmotion.com/blog/pana ... d-testing/

For most point and shoots, HD video and the like, this is more then sufficient. Just make sure you get a good brand like this as you don't want to lose your precious moments on cheap memory.

It's a steal of a price (thanked) . I bought a pack myself thanks to your post. Came to $90 after Ontario tax. I'd spend the extra, regardless of being able to utilize 1000x or not, over 40 plus tax for a pair of 200x.
