[Amazon Canada] Marantz HD DAC1 (Headphone Amp/DAC) $694.06

https://www.amazon.ca/Marantz-HDDAC1-Hi ... B00NTR459S

Found this Marantz Headphone AMP/DAC on CX3.
Looks pretty cool, but I have no idea how this performs.
Normally retails for over $800 CAD

This is a good find! I was eyeing this model for quite a while. If you are looking for high quality sound, the review below could be a little disappointing. Keep in mind.

The link points to AMP1.

The AMP1 and DAC1 are two different products.

I bought this used at 650 a couple of years ago from a hi fi store. Excellent unit but no balanced outputs(if you care).

This is a great price !!

Was on sale at 703 CAD. Works perfect with Emotiva XPA Gen 3 and KEF R900.

OP. Are you an audiophile? You seem attracted to expensive audio products that don't perform any better than $10 Apple USB-C DAC?

Only -85dB THD and the power supply noise also feeds into the audio path as per audiosciencereview.

Sorry. I just read the attached website. Anyways, even as per Marantz own spec, it is -98 dB. Apple's USB DAC is -99 dB. Face With Stuck-out Tongue And Tightly-closed Eyes

In general, I don't like Apple's products, but for $10, you get -99 dB THD, 1V output, 0.9 ohm output impedance granted it is not suitable for high impedance cans. Still, $10 vs $694 ...

You are right. Sorry guys.
I was looking to buy AMP1 to use a desktop AMP/DAC combo. Ended up with AVR.

you are comparing Apple specs to a dedicated Headphone amp that retails for 1000 dollars. Hope you aren`t being serious..

Which one did you get? Is it a better value, more versatile?

I was looking for something that will drive KEF LS50 and will have a room correction built in and sub-woofer output.
Ended up with second-hand Pioneer VSX-1130.

I am serious and I know what I am talking about. Take a look here https://www.audiosciencereview.com/foru ... ters.5541/

There is a lot of ignorance amongst general public about audio. The technology has advanced so much that it costs only a few dollars to make a quality DAC+amp to drive headphones. There is no need for expensive audio gear when the average THD in transducers is around 0.5% which makes most boutique, high quality DAC and amps irrelevant.
