[Amazon Canada] Samsung 860 EVO mSATA 500GB ($157.99)

I was looking for a deal on mSATA SSD and came across this one.

It's the new Samsung EVO 860 mSATA factor.
It's great for people who are upgrading their old laptops purchased 3-4 years ago. I am putting this in my XPS 13" 2014.

Although this item is being sold on Amazon, but it is fulfilled by third party. However, that third party is Mike's Computer Shop (a reputable one).

If you don't like the deal, please go easy on me lol. I got burned last 2 times.

Can someone please give a high level of how mSata work? Do they connect directly to the motherboard? Or use traditional sata cables like 2.5"? Or modern mobo has an mSata slot now?

mSata connects via mini-PCI slots mostly common in notebooks used for Wireless cards, Cellular modems...

This would be perfect for my Thinkpad X220 but I already have a 250GB evo 850 in the 2.5" bay...

Usually found in devices before 2014ish.. before M2 slots. New computers have M2 slots and no mSata. You can get msata to 2.5" Sata drive enclosures though.. so not all is lost if you want to upgrade in the future.

This been answered already to buy a msata to 2.5" enclosure. Unless ofcourse your motherboard supports msata then it's direct fit.

some motherboard has Msata slot. You have to check if yours have or not
or you can make it into an external drive
