For $130 you can get the C9, advantages include AC1900, beamforming, dual CPU, USB 3, etc
https://www.amazon.ca/TP-Link-Wireless- ... B00PDLRHFW
(camel x3 says that's close to lowest price which was $119 a while back)

If you plan to buy a router and use it for a few years, might be worthwhile to invest in something a bit more future-proof.
Got the C1900 [basically C9] for $99 last boxing day... good router.

C7 might be better bet if want something open source and really AC1750 more then enough for most.

Had this for a couple of years now once a week it needs a reboot and the 5ghz is spotty. Turned it to a repeater a month ago.
The new firmware that came out few weeks ago fixes this (for v2 atleast which is what most people are using)
Bug Fixed:
1. Fixed the router crash issue caused by Killer adapters.
2. Fixed the bug that the 5GHz Wi-Fi signal will disappear after working for a period.
3. Fixed the bug that cannot type in a VLAN ID that less than 16 under IPTV function.
4. Fixed the internet speed deceleration problem.

Combine with Staples' 25off75 for the best price.
How does one get a coupon code for such a discount? Google was not my friend.

Thanks - I just checked this thread. Guess people get these promotions emailed to them? All the current coupon codes have been used.
Yes, the coupon code gets emailed to them.

Yes. There's definitely DD-WRT for v2 Archer c7 v2 and DD WRT

If you're unlucky enough to get a v1, I think it's still doable, but it's a little trickier or it's still a beta version. I tried a while back with a v1 and had problems with it. But v2 should be solid.

For stability, have you tried OpenWRT ?
Is it better to use open or just regular updates from to link?

I just bought TP Link AC1750 (for 76+tax source+psp). Will I be able to use my old router D-Link dir 655 in the basement to boost my speed in the basement? My router will be on the first floor and modem in the basement.

Thank you

Can this router do hosts file filtering (like AdBlock or uBlock) with 3rd party firmware?
