$83 now..

Edit: actually still $40, it's just sending me to a 3rd party seller for some reason.

Edit 2: Oh I see, 4-6 weeks shipping time from Amazon.ca

I bought this exact external hdd last spring. It lasted 6 months before it completely died on me. I since read on amazon.com others experiencing the same issue with the drive failing after a period of months.

*brrr*

The last 6 months (if not longer) the average price I've been getting is $31/TB including taxes + shipping by grabbing the 3TB Seagate desktops with the frequent sales (ex: Staples PM + Coupon).
However, the last one I bought on sale was the Seagate Slim 2 TB for $99 taxes in.

So, at $40 + taxes - unless your REALLY need 500GB in a 'portable' style, then I would recommend putting ones money toward a much better deal, investing your money into more TB. Again, 4 times the space for 2x the money with a Seagate slim.

All the Best!

On the side, there's the product sold from amazon. This initially brings you to some third party seller for some reason

Yes any 2.5" HDD will work in your PS3 after the PS3 formats it.

I think he's asking if the USB port is soldered to the HDD, or if it's a standard HDD in an enclosure.
