My last thread about this was moved to expired deals...but they have since lowered the price of the preorder, and we now know that the set retails for $329.99 in Canada, so this is an amazing deal.

If it matters to you, note that no Blu-Rays seem to be included with the UK set.

The North American set is 4K UHD + BR + Digital

The UK set is just 4K UHD + Digital

I have not seen anything from Hollywood that rivals the clarity and fidelity of BBC's Planet Earth series. Why such disparities between the two when they're both 4k? Is it because Hollywood uses so much post-production effects it dilutes the quality? I mean productions from BBC or documentaries people actually look real and tangible but Hollywood movies they have the the effect of overdubbed, over-photoshopped about them. People don't even look real.

If getting the blu-rays is important, you can add the 8 film blu-ray collection and get both for a total of $200 CAD shipped.

Japanese disc sets are about this price. Wanted to buy a box set recently and was told it was available for almost $400 but not available in 4K...

You're comparing a theatrical movie to a documentary? You're bound to be disappointed.

I refuse to buy any Blu-ray of a film mastered in 2K. Read Blu-ray.com and realorfake4k.com . Just a cash grab, unless the HDR is highly regarded then it'd be worth it with a proper HDR tv.

2k is still 100% more detail than 1080p

What?
2K is 2048*1152, or 2.36M pixels.
1080p is 1920*1080, or 2.07M pixels

It's an improvement of about 14% by raw numbers. In practice, it's too insignificant to matter.

Unless film and displays use different terminology for resolutions, 2k has always meant 2560x1440 which is 2x the resolution of 1080p and 1/2 the resolution of 4k
