It's kind of rediculous how much phone $110USD buys these days. Seems serviceable though I wouldn't dare without an unlocked bootloader and some ROM support.

Its mostly just stock android anyway so I can wait until the bootloader gets unlocked by someone.
It is a lot of phone for the money for sure. Shipping is actually pretty reasonable and since its Amazon returns will be easy if needed.
I'm probably gonna pull the trigger since I need a phone and this gets me the most bang for this many bucks.

I have an earlier version of Blu and it is garbage. Broken once and since I bought at the MS store, I got replacement. It broke again.

I also have the free BLU phone from Speakout that my kid uses and it just broke. I agree that the quality is not there. I'm going to get this as a replacement for my kid because it is so cheap that it is hard to pass up.

I also have the free BLU Advance 4. It wiped out within the warranty so I had to send it USA at my expense (about $20). It took them a month to replace it and I would hesitate to get another BLU if the warranty terms are the same.
At the same time, it was free. I thought it was just them paying for my information.

not sure why there's no tax, but not complaining.

I guess that makes up for the import and shipping fees.

Given the reliability and (US) warrantyissues with BLU, wouldn't you be here if getting the Moto G4 Play for $150 CAD noted in another recent thread?

BIG TIME!!!
Also, if you are on a different carrier than either Telus or PC Plus, it looks like an unlock fee can be as low as $3 (check those other threads for info).

My LG G3 just died. Would this phone or the Moto G4 be a better replacement? I'm still considering the Koodo LG G5 though.

Tempted, would this be a better buy than a phone from Ali Express for example?

In Ontario this works out to around $175 CDN shipped, all in. This is roughly the same price as the Moto G4 Play. But it's hard to recommend that, as the Blu is really a lot more phone for the money. Much bigger screen, more storage, RAM etc.

4000 mah battery is awesome. The one thing is 720p on a 5.5 inch is pretty fugly. One review claims that Blu has promised a Nougat update for this phone.

Torn between this Blu Phone and the slightly better Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 for $220. Have to wait for shipping from China, but the Xiaomi is better phone, better screen, processor etc. Redmi Note 4 is probably also more likely to actually get the Nougat update.

The free Blu Advance 4.0L Speakout phone was pure garbage and I sold mine right away. Sounds like this R1 Plus is in a totally different league though.

For anyone ordering this, reviews claim it comes with a silicone case and screen protector in the box. I'm very tempted but the 720p limit is holding me back. My Moto G3 has 720p on a 5.0 inch screen and it doesn't look good, 720p on this 5.5 inch screen would just be ugly.

I've used a Blu Life One X in the past. Yes the build quality can be suspect. The power button came loose and I was lucky to find it in my pocket. Promised update to Marshmallow never came through. But it seems to be a lot of phone for the price and if not your main phone at least worthy of travel, washroom and other who cares if I lose it duties.

The large screen and low resolution is perfect for my dad who always complains about small font. I know their are apps to do this but I just want it to be "native" large print.

I used a mail routing service to order the last Blu phone and wasn't dinged by customs. The shipping was still around $15 Cad so what Amazon is charging seems reasonable and really is around onlt 13%. Doesn't seem like Amazon gouges you on a separate "brokerage fee".
