The American Amazon.com site has a sale for lenses.

There are some really good prices here on Canon lenses among others.
EF-S 10-22 going for $650, EF 16-35L is going for $1300.

They had other lenses listed that quickly sold out, like the 35L for $1100.

There's should be no duty on lenses, at least not on the Canon ones. You still pay GST though.
