I just discovered this...the trailer looks a bit like a mess but Daniel Wu is a good actor with some real training in martial arts; and Stephen Fun has done some good choreography (albeit on the stylistic side).

Hoping it is a success to bring more asian / martial arts to the screens...

Here's hoping it's not just Revolution with more and better choreographed fight scenes
The promo I saw IIRC with last week's Walking Dead really did give me a 'Revolution' vibe

So cheesy.
The best way to become ordinary is to follow the advice of ordinary people.

Started to watch but got bored of it half way through.

Considering they have to build up a background for the story and the characters, I thought the premiere was well-balanced.

So, we've had gunpowder since the 1300s but after some wars we forgot all about everything except hand to hand combat? Pretty unlikely. But I'll give it the 4 episode litmus test. I guess they won't do other sans guns books as series like S.M. Stirling's Emberverse because of cost or Gor because of controversial subject matter (even though it's dated IMO). Ah well...

I think nanotechnology ate all the gunpowder.

Yup, sounds pretty stupid really. According to the show/comic, all guns were outlawed after the 'war', so everyone went back to before gun-powder. At least it makes the show have more hand-to-hand combat scenes.

As Jackie Chan proved time and time again, you can have a world with guns AND hand-to-hand combat.

I actually liked the first episode. Action scenes were impressive as well. Look forward to the progression of this series.

And yet I remember the old Marshall Law series with Sammo Hung. In an episode where he was demonstrating what to do in an armed combat situation, one of the students puts a gun to his head and asks him what he does next. His reply? "I give up!"
