Wow, at that price that has to be the best performance per dollar hands down.

The Phenom 9750 is going for $138 at tigerdirect.ca, that's also pretty good for performance per dollar too.

Looks like AMD is cutting some slack here and there for different vendors. Smart move since they know it'll be a tough race to catch up to intel atm for market share.

I'm pretty sure the prices are going down because of the release of the X4 955 tommorow. I'm curious to see what they price it at, most likely $290-$300.

I'm thinking of them releasing it in the ballpark of $350, it's easier to drop prices then mark it higher.

It's eating me on the inside knowing that it was only maybe 3 months or so since I bought my Phenom II X4 920 for $265ish. :(

Great deal on this.

The 940 is a black edition processor. Black edition processors have unlocked CPU multipliers which helps make it easier for overclocking.

I don't suggest overclocking though unless you know what you're doing. Also, it voids your warranty.

Oh man...ouch. That's gotta sting a lot.

I got burned similarly but not as bad as that. I bought mine for around $265 on a Thursday and by the following Monday it had dropped to $235-240ish if I recall correctly.

just be happy that you got it before any of us... think of it as paying rent.

The best thing about having a hella old mobo is that it's really easy to resist the new processor deals :) But this is an awesome price for this quad.

I would wait 4 more days until the Phenom II x4 955 comes out... then we'll really know what the true price drop is going to be

Ordered the X4 9750! Thanks for the link........$137.99. I KNOW the 940 is quite a bit better.........but it's not for me, and not for gaming.

$168.98 shipped! Keeps me within my $500 budget build.
