I find TD Gold Visa Travel Accident Insurance cover $500,000 while travelling in a rental car , but RBC card it's not covered

How are American Express with charge backs? Do they give you a lot of hassle for charge backs when the seller ships you broken items/does not ship the items you've paid for?

As I understand it is at 3.9% - do you do this during application over the phone or once you receive the card? I just wondered whether I needed all the info when I called.
Also, does it stay at 3.9% or move up to the regular rate after 15 months?

Usually, you'll have the 3.99 rate for 6 months after card activation. After 6 months, it'll go back to the regular rate of 16.99.

They give you no hassles, but you do not get an immideate chargeback. What is done is a dispute. You would call and ask to dispute a charge if the company who sent you the broken merch. will not replace it for you. The amount is suspended off your acct while they look into your claim. However, keep in mind they can not promise an outcome in your favour.

You can easliy do the same if you do not recognize the charge or if a charge was unauthorized. Visa and MC require you to fax or mail in your dispute. Amex will take it over the phone.

I've only ever had to dispute two charges on Mastercard (BMO) over the years, the last being two years ago. Simple phone dispute both times, with charges being reversed immediately on first call, followed by them mailing me a simple affidavit form which I had to sign and either fax or mail back. No hassles either time.

Just got a call from Amex. After confirming address and a couple of "spending pattern" questions, "We'd like to welcome you to Amex, The card is in the mail and will be there within 7 days". I applied on August 30th, so today was the 6th business day. I was getting ready to call and reapply if I hadn't heard from them by tomorrow or Wednesday. Still no sign of a TU pull, so it could be an EQ or it simply hasn't registered yet if they did it today, I'll check later.

P.S. Don't know if it's already been mentioned, but the Amex rep pointed out that there is no limit to the cash rebate.
