Nothing really new.
I've been telling American freinds that for years.
The fact is that USA is hated nearly every where in the world. So if an American would to go backpackingin Europe they will get much better service if they tell people they're Canadian. If they say they're Americans in some countries they will get treated like crap.

They have been doing it for years.. Someones just capitolizing on the idea.
Ultimately, it makes no difference. People in Europe can tell within an earshot.
Its not a matter of whether you are from Country X.. Its how you treat the people whose country you are visiting, and you must realize what you do over here, might be considered improper etiqutte over there._______________

Though of course I would never do that as I don't carry anything to prove my dual citizenship. So I'd just be shotting myself in teh foot.

I have travelled quite extensively, and I always cringe when I see the Canadians decked out in their Canadian patches, roots clothes, "I am Canadian" hats T-shirts, fanny packs, etc.
I know its so people don't think they are Americans, but you don't see Belgians decked out in case people think their French, or New Zealanders for Aussies. I think its just that Canada is a little insecure in the shadow of their neighbour and have to show everyone their Canadian. Just be yourself, if your loud and obnoxious people won't care what country you come from - they still won't like you.

Belgians don't get killed by terrorists just for being Belgian. Insecurity, yes - but not the way you're thinking.

Well Said
I NEVER plaster Canada on any of my clothing. Just be yourself, if they ask, tell them, if not. Let them assume.
