Sounds like a good father's day gift for me
I can't think of why I really need it, my PBO is doing well and the wife is now use to things.

Personally, I don't think 802.11g (54Mbps) can give you 1080p quanlity. It is too slow. 720p might be ok, but it is also depending on the video source.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

It depends. If Vanilla ICS, it's more than capable. This has similar specs to Nexus S and it got official update. Runs ICS smoothly on my friend's Nexus S. And it does 1080p* pretty well. There are a bunch of other phones running ICS well. Remember that there are other things running on the phones which won't in this, so more resources available to do more things. I think implementation is a big thing for this one. If want to have better specs, won't be this cheap unless with crappy stuffs.
Having said that, I would pay more for newer gens with better specs, in case need to upgrade for later on. Android 5...

That info is meaningless because it does not say what kind of H.264 profiles it supports nor does it discuss the fact that when you are playing an MKV you have to do the decoding of AC3 in software, which maybe this can't do.
All I am saying is be cautious. Its a great little device to experiment with but until someone can report back true results I would not hold my breath on this being your media center.

Where did you get that idea???
My X10i with a first gen Snapdragon and 384MB RAM runs fine on CM9.
There are also a ton of devices that officially has ICS only with 512MB, some are even single core and runs real smooth: http://mobilesyrup.com/2012/05/13/be...-review-video/
