Hey ppl, the title says it all. I'm looking for a decent android tablet for my 3yr old son. My wife wanted to get a leap pad. The leap pad costs around $100-150 and Games range from $10-25. but I figured for the same price I could get an android tablet and it can do a crapload more than a limited one-function-only leappad.
I saw this http://forums.redflagdeals.com/costc...9-99-a-1260950 buttherewas one review that was pretty bad from a father who bought it for his son and said it was crap and nothing but hassles.

How about the Ainol Flame? Apart from its existence, I know absolutely nothing about this tablet. Best that you look up some reviews on the web.
There's the kindle fire as well, though I dont think it comes with the Play Store installed. Might have to do some simple tinkering.Last edited by aeba7; Nov 23rd, 2012 at 11:53 PM.

at your price range i would look around the BST forums for a used Nexus 7 8gb or 16gb, small bump in budget and you get way more value than those chinese tablets

The Ainol Fire/Flame is it. The latest firmware pretty much fixed all its major issues (namely, the touch screen dying).

I am going to follow this thread as well. I'm thinking about possibly getting a tablet from Shoppers during the Mega Points event in a couple of weeks. I'm looking for recommendations for good educational titles as well as I don't know much about the Google Play store.

Op. Are you in toronto? A couple weeks ago I was at the ncix location by warden and 14th ave. They had. Iirc 5" or 7" tablets open boxed for 79.00-99.99. Iirc one box stated ice cream sandwich 4.0 updated.
They had at least 5units on the walk in shelf by the back of the store by the service dept. and also about 3 iirc in the glass disllay case. Why one unit of the same item was less 10.00 for the same unit I do not know but for the kids I would be hesitant to give something expensive till they are like in thier mid teens when they are likely to take more care of the kit. At the leapfrog age I am more afriad they will test the laws of gravity.
btw I do not have kids but just from what I have seen around from those that have kids.
Hope that helps.
Edit: I see you are in toronto. Sorry my phone does not make it easy to view other posts while I am typing. I am not sure if the hwy7 and woodbine store has the same as I was there same day for a quick virw but did not notice any.Last edited by thedealhunter2000; Nov 24th, 2012 at 04:36 PM.

I am curious as to whether it must be an android tablet...
I ask because staples, the source, and others have the 32 gb blackberry playbook on for around $120 - $140
I have the 16 gb version and can't find one thing wrong with it......
not that it matters but, really? a tablet for a 3 yr old? lol seriously? When I was 3 I got a cardboard box to play with...
I guess for his 4th birthday a galaxy smartphone is in order!!!_______________

I just picked two of these for our 4 and 7 year old kids.
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX40275
Good price, decent specs, and came with a case. I think for a kid you want to stay in the 7 inch screen size. I was originally looking at the Le Pan from Amazon, which is a full size tablet, but i think that would be too big for a kid to hold comfortably.
Toys R Us also carries an exclusive model called Kurio http://www.toysrus.com/product/index...uctId=13044616
For 50 bucks more, its still Android based, and it comes preloaded with a bunch of popular games, and the case seems a bit more durable.

There are a lot of ICS tablets from the lesser known brand makers that would fit your needs (i.e. the previous post example). If it's for kids, I recommend this one: http://www.canadacomputers.com/produ...item_id=047089
At $100, it's a cheap ICS tablet that works decently well as I know someone who has one. One of the biggest downfall of this tablet may actually be a big plus for this case: this tablet can only download free apps from the play store but it does not support app purchases. With that in mind, it prevents kids from suddenly make random app purchases by accident.

Not sure if you've got access to pick stuff up in the US or not, but Woot has this one day deal on for a quad-core 7" "kids" tablet that gets pretty good reviews;
