Might be smart to buy Amazon, watch out for overheating, lost this exact one in less than 30 days. Not sure of Kodi DX11 builds, you might be stuck with Kodi 15.2 max

I bought the same box from here: http://www.amazon.ca/Geekbuying-Android ... op?ie=UTF8. The TV Box is fast and powerful, but it had some firmware issues: Video would freeze once you pause and restart it on KODI 15.2 unless you disable hardware decoding. I rooted the box and installed a hacking program to fix this issue, it works fine after that.

Is this exact same box but $7 cheaper then comparing to the one from Op? Can both sideload apps and have google play?

How does it compare to TICTID MXQ Android Tv Box Amlogic S805 Quad Core for $50?
https://www.amazon.ca/gp/aw/d/B016II7Q0 ... UTF8&psc=1

Looking to get a box to replace tvpad

Thanks!

Any potential drawbacks of having Android 4.x instead of 5.x or newer, particularly for Android TV boxes?

Just a point of clarification, this device does not run "Android TV". It runs Android skinned for TVs by the device maker. Check out my post in the other thread for an explanation.

Thanks, I guess I'll clarify my question:

Any potential drawbacks of having Android 4.x instead of 5.x or newer, particularly for Android-based "TV boxes"?

Yes, this M8S is the same box as OP, it has a powerful S812 CPU and 2 GB RAM, Bluetooth is built-in too. However, the MXQ you mentioned is a lower model, it has a weaker S805 CPU and only 1GB RAM, no Bluetooth. I personally recommend to pay $20 extra and get the M8S.
