In other news, it rained in London.

(Now Is Not The Time To Talk About Gun Control!)
Haha.... rainy days is part and parcel of living in London, especially in winter!

Sad news.

My 7 year old son had a lockdown drill a few days ago at school and he came home with a lot of questions. It's sad that it's come to this.

And Trump calls other countries crap holes. Maybe he should look in his own backyard first?

Unreal.. it's like one every month or so... not sure it's even 'SHOCKING' anymore... seems to happen so damn often. Same blah blah blah... and nothing will get done. Insane.

RIP victims.

Since 2013, there have been 290 school shootings in the US. 6 this year(2018). That is 1 per week.

https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/5581283/s ... -how-many/

28 mass shootings total in the US in 2018, (4 or more injured or killed including the shooter)

http://www.gunviolencearchive.org/reports/mass-shooting

Nope no problem here

And yet they continue to do nothing. Oh well. Let them take themselves out.
So what should be done then? What credible solutions do you have other than the sloppy and largely discredited thinking of "lets ban the guns!!!"?

No, it happens because the society there has easy access to firearms. They don't need to go underground to get a gun like in most countries including Canada.

You mean the same Canada where demand for illegal firearms and gun smuggling has been soaring over the past several years?

Canadians crack down on guns, alarmed by flow from U.S

"The move comes as police have discovered an increased number of high-powered handguns and semiautomatic and automatic weapons in Canadian cities".

Or how about the spiking gun crime and gun homicides in Canada's largest cities where guns should be completely inaccessible according to you?

Three theories that may explain Toronto's gun violence spike

"In the days after Ms. Bobb's death, Toronto recorded its 30th homicide of the year – double the number for the same period a year ago. Factor in guns and the spike is particularly glaring: 19 gun homicides in 2016 so far, a 217-per-cent increase; and 135 shootings, representing a 60-per-cent jump compared with the same period in 2015".

Or the fact that most homicides in Canada's largest city in 2017, the city where guns should not exist according to you and the frankly absurd thinking of others in this thread, are caused by guns that have been obtained through illegal means?

Most of Toronto's victims killed by guns

"In the last 12 months, police statistics show there have been 375 shooting occurrences, resulting in 565 victims — essentially double what the city experienced just three years ago".

But golly gee all we need to do is ban the guns and the bad guys guns will magically stop working and they will just go back to knifing each other!

Summary of today's tragic shooting:

At least 17 killed, more than 20 injured
Suspect arrested and identified as Nicolas de Jesus Cruz, former student
Teachers had been warned not to let Cruz onto campus with a backpack, and he had previously been the subject of schoolwide warnings about possible violence; last year he was not allowed to come back on campus because of threats against students.
It's not clear why he left the school
The town of Parkland is about 45 miles north of Miami
Sheriff said the total won't be known until the SWAT team gives the "all clear" - the school is still considered an active crime scene

the weapon was an AR-15, a semi-automatic rifle frequently used in mass shootings including Newtown, Aurora and San Bernardino; multiple magazines were used.

Cruz reportedly followed numerous gun groups as well as resistance groups on social media including the Syrian resistance & Iraqi fighters.

In another briefing, Sheriff Israel said the shooting "Started outside the school and went inside". Two succumbed to their wounds at the hospital, but it's unclear what state the scene is in. Twelve were killed inside the school, two were killed on a street outside, and two more succumbed to their wounds. It's unclear what happened to the 17.

It's so frequent that we have almost become indifferent to it. It has just become a piece of news, nothing more. Americans must do something about guns, at least regulate it. Make access difficult. People should still be able to procure it, but at least make them apply for a gun license, let them explain and justify why they must have a gun. It's crazy. It has nothing to do with left vs right, it is about common sense and value for life.

My point being that he's quick to criticize other countries for their problems but chooses to ignore issues in his own country because he's either an idiot or sincerely believes that the USA has no issues whatsoever.

The US needs to do something about their guns. They practically worship the gun.

you need to change the culture in america. there needs to be a great emphasis on ethicals, morality, tolerance and respect and make people understand that crime and violence is never the acceptable human way to do things. yes certainly stricter gun laws are needed and background checks. puttimg more emphasis on eliminating homelessness and poverty play a role as well as greater access and resources to deal with mental health. america has a very violent culture.

Even our illegal gun problems with gangs and thugs all flows directly from the USA.

You are clueless obviously. Have you been living under a rock? You can get guns in Canada from gun stores. Just like in the states. The difference is their mentality.

Are we going to ban knife, bats, and oh let's not forget trucks and cars? They are all tools. If we want to fix this, fix the source - human.
