Still no contact from the guy?
I would contact BFG and get an RMA going in the meantime. They have lifetime warranty and no reciept is required. Request a crosshipment. BFG is very good with thier warranty, and they have 24/7 tech support so you should get an RMA number soon.

That used to be the case but BFG now requires the sales receipt as proof of being the original owner...
BFG Warranty Statement

I don't doubt he was once a solid trader and it's the main reason I've given him this much leeway and time to get back to me... guess I was just wasting my own time.

That's what it says, but they don't ask for it.
I had RMA'd one a couple of months ago and they never asked me for a reciept. They even crosshiped a new one to me, before I sent mine. I would just try anyways, and if they demand a reciept, make one up
They should give you a brandnew one.

That is not correct as I RMA'd the exact same card a few weeks ago. I also had the exact same problem as you, artifacting during bios boot and during OS loading but it caused my system to freeze while loading winxp. They didn't ask me for a receipt or anything, but I did have to pay about $20 to ship it to them. At least get a brand new card of of this.

Hmmm, interesting. I was going to try to the RMA the card but it definitely looks more positive now. Thanks for the heads up Toronto and Van... hopefully you're right and the reciept requirement is just something posted online.
