Another Xbox question

I won an Xbox, bought some games for it and some dvd's (we dont have a DVD player) and was just about to wrap it for the kids for Xmas but somebody told me that it won't play the DVD's unless I buy something else for it. Is this correct, and if so what do I have to buy?

I'm in southern BC, it's a pretty small place about 4 hours from Calgary. It's a really good idea but I doubt anybody lives close enough to exchange here.

If somebody's in Calgary though and really want to exchange for a Gamecube I could possibly mail it to my sister there though.

ive never dealt with these guys or anything but thier in BC DUh! so ya..u can call em up maybe they will trade? or u can easily sell ur xbox for like more than a hundred and get that gamecube system ^^

BTW there are ALOT more deals on buysell so i suggest u check the place out for stuff people are selling and make some calls :P.
