Any chains that'll let me "test run" a 4 GB SD card?

or even a local store that's in the core of downtown Toronto (CityTV, Old city hall, HMV megastore etc) and that sells them at a reasonable price?

I *think* my device might handle it but I wouldn't want to chance it since it's not even rated for even 2 GB.

4GB SD cards seem to be pretty rare right now so I'd have to go to a local store/small chain. I could bring in a cd full of mp4s to burn to it but I didn't think they'd want to take the time to transfer 4GBs to the SD card and then for me to test run it.

If any smaller chains carried a 4 GB card and has a no restock fee return policy that'd work as well.

Agreed. However, sadly, they only carry up to 2 GB for SD even though they have a whopping 8 GB for CF

I was thinking you bring in the device like PDA or digicam to test, if the device detect the 4G sc card, most likely it work on the device.
Are you talking burn from CD to 4G card? Most card reader should have no problem.

It's for a MP3/MP4 player. I tried just buying a 2 GB card before for my PDA and although my PDA would recognize the card and play the first 1 GB of videos anything after that just gave a error on the device (thankfully I got it at BB so they returned it) so I thought the only way it could work is if I could use their PC to transfer out all the videos to the card and test them out on the MP4 player in store.

Unless there's a chain that offers a 100% money back policy who sells 4 GB SD cards I think I may be out of luck.

Why not contact the manufacturer of your device, or google if others have already tried a 4GB card in said device? Probably a lot easier and wouldn't require a retailer to open a sealed package.

Sadly that's not an option in this case since I imported it directly from China and all the reviews for the JXD 660 or it's sister product (the 680) with a 1.3 MP digital camera are in chinese. The google translations let me know the device was generally good however the broken english couldn't give me detailed specifics like that.

There wasn't even an English manual for it Thankfully for me the seller was good enough to default it to english so that saved me a couple hours of blindly going through chinese menus to change it.

JXD rates it as handling a 1 GB card and other ebay sellers claim it supports a 2 GB card however for my PDA it only had a rated support for a 512 MB card and from reading online I found that *some* 1 GB cards worked.

You're right about the package thing however I was hoping there might be a store in Toronto that did enough traffic that they'd have a "demo" SD card for bleeding edge tech like this so that customer could test it out (kinda like a a "store sock" in a shoe store lol).
