Might be better to post this at the "request a deal" section, but here's my two cents.
There were deals posted regarding Sears garage door openers during the last few weeks. Don't know if they are still valid. In general it seems that Sears have these sales every once in a while, so hopefully something pops up in the next 3 weeks for you.
All the models looks the same spec-wise and the difference is colour and included accessories. I don't know of any underlying differences myself.
Also are you not considering a belt drive at all? They are a lot more quiet which is important point if you have rooms above your garage.

Any deals on garage door openers?
We need to buy one GDO within the next 3 weeks.
We were hoping to buy from Sears and use some of our Sears points. But if there is another good deal available at another store, we'd be open to that too.
We are looking for a chain drive, with two remotes. Don't need the number pad. This is the one we are considering.

This one looks similar but is more $:

And this one has the button pad but is cheaper than the one for $289:

Anybody know the main differences between them?
Any other deals?Last edited by amz155; Nov 4th, 2009 at 12:10 PM.

The room above the garage will be an office so the noise is not an issue. Someone also pointed out to me once that the noise created by a chain drive is okay because as least you'd know when the door is opening. If someone opens my garage at least I will hear it, vs. with a belt drive where it may be too quiet to alert me to the door opening.
