Been part taking in the last couple of years. Probably won't be competing as much this year since I've got family commitments (two rug rats) and it's taking more of my time now.
The Calgary organizer guarantee that the boats will be in the water in May but we'll have to see since the forecast is for snow tomorrow. Also we haven't had exactly summer conditions to melt the ice off the reserviour. Should be exciting this year in Calgary since the Canadian Western qualification for World competition will be held in Calgary for the first time ever. Should be nice to see some real quality teams from Vancouver, like False Creek, come out. I got to see them last year and it really put in perspective where we actually stand.

Hey fellow RFDers!
Just wondering if anyone here is on a dragonboat team. This season, I'm paddling for Piranhas.
In past years I've paddled for RentSheild, Scream'n Demon's, and Asian Focus Shockwave.
(Mind you that these are Toronto teams.)
Time to break out the neoprene!! :wink:Last edited by Bincent; Apr 12th, 2007 at 02:07 PM.

I've been out to watch the races, but that's about it. Looks like fun, hell of a workout though!

I'd definitely recommend it to everyone out there. It's a great way to get back into shape for the summer!
And you meet a ton of amazing people too.

How is the training coming along? SARS has started to somewhat push back some of our training (ie. pool practice is cancelled) and the weather is definitely not helping to warm up the Lake. This looks like it's going to be a really chilly season.
Time to break out the neoprene!!
I believe one of the newbies (woohoo) also is in Dragonboat...

Apr 2nd, 2003 07:56 AM #10Join the River Rats or ERDBA (http://www.edmdragonboat.com/) then, they're a great bunch to hang around with. We partner with them last couple of years. But paddling in the Saskatchewan river leaves something to be desired. yuk *where's the grossed out icon*Never done it. Sounds cool tho.

ALRIGHT! Dragonboat! I've done it for 4 years now - starting my fifth season. I've been paddling with "Summer Dragons, Eh?" the past four years and other teams.
I love Dragonboat, it's such a great way to meet new people and get into shape - even if it's on one side of your body only.
