Anybody tried Sushi Hut AYCE?
The location of Sushi Hut is at Metro Square, in Markham Ontario (along Steeles). I just noticed that they have AYCE sushi. The restaurant appears to have been around for awhile, but I guess I never noticed that they are AYCE.
Does anybody have any experience eating there? How's the food and how are the prices?

Sushi hut is terrible. But that means nothing unless I give reasons. Since I actually wasted $43 for 2 people, I don't want anyone else to.
Some reasons:
-Their White tuna sashimi is not white (bad cut, not fresh)
-Their rice is too moist and bland (EXACTLY like mandarin sushi)
-Quantity isnt indicated beside the categories, except for roll(x6), Hand Roll (x1) and Pizza (x6pcs) so even when you put x3 beside say 'squid ball' they bring you two... steak teriyaki.. 3 bones, 2 pieces with meat. Same goes for the other items.
-Their sushi skin is tasteless and very dry (your teeth will crunch b4 the salmon skin)
-They rolls in general are so unimpressive and bland, even if you concentrate and eat small quantities, its hard to distinguish between different rolls.
-their sushi pizza i swear is a pre-made patty, defrosted, very stale, midget size proportions.
-Their tofu is not good. The sauce they put on it makes it edible, but the tofu itself is horrid.
-Their cokes are from a fountain, quite flat.
-other than those and others that don't come to mind, their service is good (even though they didn't double up on our orders when we asked)
-their salmon in general is really good, also the squid sashimi.
-the dynamite ice-cream was also great (don't get the red bean slush, too much crushed ice :S)
Definitely NOT worth it. The portions and quality was depressing. The quality is reflective of the 20 year old sushi chef they employ.

I'm not surprised. Most AYCE *** are like that. Very typical of these places. They think customers only care about quantity not quality. As long as they can give u 205 items on their menu, more than the 199 items from another AYCE, they're happy.

I use to eat at that restaurant quite frequently way back before they went AYCE.
It was a hidden resaurant that had pretty good food. But ONce they were forced to go ACYE to survive, their quality of food went down.

from what everyone said, sushi hut used to be good before they expanded.. now its just run of the mill....
their a-la-carte stuff is horrible. I have had microwave dinners that rival their terriyaki chicken.

went there last night, it was only 15.99 (but bigger menu available @ 21.99, not sure what else is in that one)
food was all right, white tuna a bit soggy, unagi rice good, red bean slush a bit icy as mentioned by previous poster but can't complain with free refills
fried banana and crunchy ice cream were good too.

I've been going there for a while and I've always enjoyed the food there. The only complaint that I've ever had is that it takes way too long to get your sushi when it's AYCE and the restaurant is full, but I'm sure it's like that with most AYCE places when they get busy.
Ordering a la carte has always been good and the AYCE has been alright.
I will keep going back there.

I went to sushi hut a couple months back, despite what I had read on the forums. Honestly, it isn't too bad, but for their price, you can get better.
I didn't try their salmon skin (which is one of my favorites), but I went to Sake last month, everything Papagorgio said about sushi hut's salmon skin applied to sake's. I swear, nearly chipped a tooth biting into that horrible stale dry salmon skin. Everything else was pretty good though at sake.

The first time I went there, which was probably 2 years ago, prior to their expansion and renovations, it was definitely one of the best places i've been to for AYCE sushi. It was very busy and we arrived pretty early, 5pm and most of the seats were already reserved. The service was great and the sushi quality was excellent as well.
Since then, I went back about 4 months ago after their renovations. The place is much more serile looking, and while the quality was not terrible, it was not the same caliber it once was for sure.
