I'm am currently looking for an officiant for our wedding ceremony. Toronto offers this service for people who want an off site ceremony (i.e. not actually at wedding chambers) via:

If you've hired them for your wedding ceremony, please share your experience. They seem to be the cheapest I've found at $373.40 including tax. (Which still seems expensive for a 20 minute ceremony but that's another discussion....)
I'm comparing them to All Seasons Wedding Ceremonies officiants, who cost a bit more but you can actually hand pick the person who officiates.
Thanks.

I cant remember the name of the officiant serviuce we used, but we did get to handpick them.
I dont think 3-400 is unreasonable when you factor in some travel time and expense and a decent wage, and some paperwork to fill out. everyone has to make a living somehow.
My main advice is to be clear and detailed with them, even including how they dress.
Ours was fine overall, but when we met at our inital meeting he was wearing a large metal snake necklace thing...I didnt think anything of it, it was downtown on a friday night so no big deal.....but he showed up wearing it at our ceremony as well, which IMO looked kind of creepy/weird.
so in retrospect I wish we'd discussed that before hand.
But serves us right I suppose. our other choice of officiant for our date was an attractive woman...which my wife immediately ruled out by saying "Not the hot one....the last thing I need is for you to be distracted during our wedding vows"._______________
One more year of tellin' it like it is.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked stealth for this post.

First off congrats and best wishes to you both!
I got married in a civic wedding around 1.5 years ago in Toronto (Markham to be exact) with off-site officiant.
If I remember the price tag should be around 200. But mine did a sup par job not sure if more expensive ones would do better.
Try visiting the civic centre near you. If you ask the clerks about officiant most of them will refer you to some individual officiant or a directory full of them to get your search started.
I recommend you have a sit down with the guy or at least a long phone conversation (interview). Make sure he is cooperative, friendly, and courteous to you and your partner and really would like to see through a good wedding.
Last thing you want on the wedding is some guy with sour attitude bringing everybody down...
Hope this helps._______________

That www.marryus.org is what I used a few years ago. I can't remember the price back then though. The officiant met with us a couple of weeks prior to the wedding at Tim Horton's (I mean, we met him at Tim's, not had the wedding at Tim's, hee hee). He went over what he would be saying at the ceremony and we could also change the words if we wanted.
We arranged for him to marry us at a park and he was on time and did a good job. We were quite satisfied with him. We had to pay $$ to book the park, on top of paying for the officiant.LOG IN TO THANK No one has yet thanked skateboarder for this post.
