Anyone buy a new GM lately using GM points card?
I am looking at buying a new Equinox and would like to use the allowable $1500 points from my GM TD VISA card.
Just wondering if the dealerships like to negotiate d0wn MSRP price once you mention the GM points card. The discount is coming from TD VISA but I know how dealerships will try and use that as their discount too.

Ask about this too: http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/corporat...view?adv=91741
but it might just apply to Pontiac, Buick and GMC, not Chevrolet.

Thanks for that link, you are right, just Pontiac Buick and GMC, guess what also I found one for Chevy Equinox
http://www.gm.ca/gm/english/corporat...view?adv=91666
Up to $9000 in cash credits plus $1000 in holiday cash bonus.
SOmeone else posted on RFD that during the end of the summer they were able to get the MSRP of the Equinox down to 23XXX from 25999 at the dealer.
If I can get the price down to 23xxx -$1500 GM discount -holiday bonus I might have to buy this..

GM Visa is just like cash to the dealer, so as said, negotiate your price, and when its time, present your card, a bit of paperwork and save some cash!

As others have suggested, you don't have to tell them about your GM Visa points as it's treated like cash and applied after taxes are added to the sales price. My advice, though, is to not disclose that you have them as sales people like to present you with an attractive out-the-door price or monthly payment and I have witnessed some who use GM points to mask the fact that they're not giving up much on their margin. While that's easily seen-through and dismissed, why even bother going there?

negotiate and check other dealers too... GM still has dealers that vary in prices so keep on the look out for the best deal. Find out about other discounts too that could be applied to you:
ie.
Student discount
GM loyalty discount

how long? I think its 4 years they allow to redeem it...
You could always ask about the loyalty, every time I ask about it the sales person mentions that it's available.
Bring them an offer to the table, once you are happy, set the price in stone, then tell them you got GM points.

You are right, they will give you your first two month's payments for free if you graduated in the last four years. I graduated 3.5 years ago so I would qualify..

There's a $1000 GM loyalty program on right now - I just ordered a car late last month and they applied it. I don't know if it applies to all of their cars but I imagine that it does.
