I would never do it. There is a reason you still see many health professionals and even optometrists still wearing glasses.

Anyone contemplating on a Lasik eye treatment?

As a person who has had to wear a light set of reading glasses for years I have always had a serious interest in this, but at the same time I don't trust anyone to shoot lasers down into my eyes.
My one friend who had it done said she loves the results. Guess it is great for those who it works on, but if there is any problems it sucks...

I had mine done 8 yrs ago & no regrets... I KNEW about the possible side effects going in to it....(unlike the woman in the article)
I was told about over & under enhancements & nite vision not being so good & the halo effect.
but for me the good out weighed the bad. I have no problems can see fine, except for very minor halos when looking at nite lites & traffic lites (i dont drive)
so i guess its a personal choice~~

man, I have been wearing glasses since early highschool.
I really want to get Lasik done because I am tired of waking up in the morning and not being able to see my alarm clock clearly, or swimming with blurred vision.
Is that being vain?
Actually I think I look better with glasses on but it is such an inconvenience (like playing sports).
I really have to think about it. I have had a few buddies that have done it and they swear by it. So yeah, like what a previous poster mentioned...if it works for you it is amazing but if you have problems, then it sucks.

It's once in the life time and it's either a success or failure.

I am. I understand the risks and will still be going ahead with the procedure.

Besides reshaping of the cornea, what else does the surgery entail? Will technology improve the process and lower the risk eventually?
I don't need one yet but maybe I'll stick with reading glasses when I hit 40's (that's in a decade)._______________

Been wearing glasses since I was 8, and I really wanted it done. I had the consult and they told me that my corneas weren't deep enough (too thin) to actually have the surgery done, so even though I want it, I'll never be able to have it unless they come up with some kind of innovation.
My friend got lasik two years ago (which is how I got interested in it) and she has no problems at all. Maybe she's one of the lucky ones._______________

Not everyone is a good candidate for the surgery and when it comes to profits versus human health, many professionals will not have your best interest.

Been thinking about hitting up Lasik MD, saw they advertised from 500$ per eye, and guaranteed 20/20.
Saw some research which said that asian eyes are higher incidence of dryness and blurriness, etc.
Kinda worried that they will make things irreparably blurry.
