went this morning (i.e. 1:30 am).. Just so everyone knows you need a ticket, even if it is "free".... so, don't expect to just walk in... They have been giving them out since 12:00 noon on Saturday.

yep i found out the hard way. shouldof went directly to the main site, instead of reading what the paper said
there was tons of ppl today.
I did get a glimpse of of the outside and it looks kinda mundane, not shiny enuf. im sure it looks awesome at nite, but the museum is open daytime. then again the real action is inside.

no...
Pissed at the ROM....
The addition is nightmarish...could have been wonderful...loved the idea of a crystal (given the geological importance of the ROM) rising from the gothic structure....
but the design was embarrassing...it reminds me of the aftermath of 9/11....
Just think, the designer (whatever his name is) did not even include it in his retrospective biography...the other 200 or so projects were listed.....
Maybe if they had been able to use glass (yes it heats up, but it could have just been superficial.....so many possibilities.....)
Anyway...nope not going....not now, not until my 3 year old wants to see dinosaurs...

Went early morning 1:00am. Honestly, it wasn't that great. I missed out on the concerts before but the inside of the museum wasn't that spectacular. And the crystal? Well, let's just say I was so confused. I just couldn't picture a 'crystal' within the architecture. Definitely not worth the 3 hour wait for tickets and 1 hour wait to get inside!
No offense to anyone who might have worked on the project.
Oh well, at least I can say that I've seen it.

Heard something on the radio about it being a big unveiling. The structure is supposedly very provocative and attract both fans and critics alike. Anyone have a picture of it?

I saw it from the outside and didn't wanna wait in line. It doesn't look that amazing or good....it wasn't lighted up or anything to make it look nice..but then again, they're not finished the entrance yet so maybe thats why.

google images -> "rom crystal"
i think its a monstrosity, perfect for Toronto. Where as other cities get elegance, we get a pile of rubbish that looks like school portables unceremoniously dumped on the poor ROM.
