Anyone here applied Queen's MMA (Master of Management Analytics) for Summer2013?

I am looking for someone who is applying or who is accepted by the MMA program. We could be classmates :)

Hey,

I am currently in the process to apply to that program. I was wondering did you write the GMAT for admission? I have been waiting on the Application Advisor for quite some time now. If you can give me some tips on how to get admitted, that would be great :)

Let me know!

Hi guys - I've been accepted to the Queen's MMA program for summer 2013. I did write the GMAT, but it looks like the admission requirements since changed to only require a GMAT to "strengthen" your application (maybe if you don't have a lot of work experience).

Have either of you heard back?

hi

I am also in process off application to the program but have some concern:
is this program only targeting managers or those who are working now and want to have broader knowledge in this area?
In other words, do you think it is a good option for people without prior experience in this field?
Do you have any idea how many students they are gonna admit for summer 2013?

I went to the information session end of March.. seems like it is the first of its kind in Canada and created in midst of the Big Data hype! A professional degree instead of a M.Sc type of predictive modeling program offered in US or the one at York ..

As a B.Comm grad with some finance/accounting background, I always have a keen interest in data crunching or pattern seeking, visualization… yet, really really got a chance to :\

Was originally going to rush into the summer 2013 class, but my transcript is kind of weak and my background is nothing technical…
The admission advisor asked me to submit my GMAT score, so I guess, there is no way I can have my application ready.. aiming for summer 2014.,

hope you hear your experience at the program.. :)

fingercross that the tuition won’t go up as much due to the huge demand…

@alexelix according to Dr Levin, the Director of this program, 40-50 will be the class size, they are having pressure to admit more people yet as the 1st year running the program... they would like to keep the group small in 5 - 6 people.

hi all, i am also accepted into the program. so what are everyones backgrounds? i am an engineer myself with 2 years of experience but currently not working. i am just wondering if i should find a full-time job for the duration of this program or just concentrate on this course and any extra curricular activities that i can find to work on related to the field. anyone have any inputs? anyone that is accepted planning on not working and concentrating just on this program for the 10 months? looking forward to meeting you guys as well.

Hi all, I am wondering how long did you hear back from the admission advisor after you applied? It's been about 1 week since I applied and I haven't heard back.

David - why not just reach out to them and ask? Their contact information is on the Contact us page (https://business.queensu.ca/grad_studie ... ontact.php). I heard back pretty quickly when I applied.

Sanj23 - my background is in Computer Science, and I've been working at BMO in various BI/MIS roles over the last few years. Since the program is designed for people working full time, maybe it makes sense to find a job? I guess it depends on how busy you want to be!

I'm curious about this program too. I would like to know more about the backgrounds of those who were admitted. And, I haven't seen any solid figures for admission requirements. For example, I like to know the grades of those admitted. They said they want someone with very strong statistical and mathematical backgrounds.

Hi Alexre1,

I also applied for Summer 2013, but I guess it was a bit late when I sent my application. Now, I just got the admission letter for 2014 class. My background is also in computer science, and working as ETL developer. can you share about your experience in this class so far. I also want to know if this program can benifit people from technical side. Thanks in advance.

How long did it take for you to receive your acceptance after you applied?

Thanks

This program seems very expensive for what you get, given that you already have a solid background in math/statistics. I bet you could teach yourself everything you need to know by reading the relevant journals. Also, the whole 'big data specialist' thing seems very faddish to me.
I tend to agree. Im in the process of applying and i already have a master. When i thought it was 20k, it looked okay but for 40k, id rather save my money and invest it in something else.
