Hey guys, I only buy my tires from 1 of 2 places: Simply Tire or Discount Tire Direct (shipped to us and installed there). Just wondering if there are any good values coming for winter or new summer tires?
With all of the cars in the family, someone's probably going to need a new set for now or the winter. Any deals or good value coming? Allen at Simply is only a tad bit more than the US and good on him, I think for the $60 -$100 + taxes ($65-$85) I think he's done a good job at keeping me in the country.

Just not worth it anymore. CAD$ on par with US$. Back in the 90s.. when our currency was at 65c US it made a big difference. Now for even 20$-40$ its not even worth the hassle.

Depends on the size and quality of tire you want. The difference could be $10 per tire or a $100+ per tire.
If your looking for bargain tires for an economy car, buy locally. But if your looking for Michelin super sports for a performance car, buy in the states.

You have it backwards. With a $.65 dollar, it would be hugely expensive to buy in the US. My last set in '10 was 17" Blizzaks with winter alloy rims for $900 (US$ at par) installed in the US. Locally, those tires alone were $400 each! An acquaintance bought tires only (same Blizzaks) for his Venza and since he didn't change rims, had to get 20's and paid $2800 for 4 tires. Now he has the pleasure of seeing his rims slowly beat to death with the seasonal changeover. I'm close to the border, so it will be US shopping for me for the immediate future.
