I kept trying for availability and got no luck until yesterday .... this is the message I got:
Congratulations, cable internet is available at the Postal Code (l4j8v4) you requested.

I guess there's nothing wrong with what you say, but don't sell me 'there can't be better ways.' Tell the captain 'this boat's not safe, we're drowning', turns out he's the one making waves.

I'm too in Thornhill Woods (L4J0Bx) and teksavvy isn't yet available for me. While on the same block other postal codes are available for TSI cable. Does anyone know when can we expect all Thornhill Woods to have service from TSI? I think it's just Rogers slows down all the process

It's not available for me either, yet here I sit using their service. Someone had some great advice for me, which was to place your order with TSI and make sure they contact Rogers to try to set you up. If they get rejected by Rogers, no big loss, but chances are they won't.
They gave me all sorts of BS about how my next door neighbor could have their service, but I may not be able to get it. This goes against my understanding of how cable internet works, but just keep asking them to try.
Out of the blue one day I got an email saying they'd setup my account and they were charging my credit card. I called them up and they confirmed that Rogers can setup my home. I called Rogers to cancel my service with them (30 days notice required) and Teksavvy set my activation date based on that.
All of this after being told (a few times) that I wasn't eligible._______________

Thanks, great advise! But I have Rogers now and don't want disconnect unless I know for sure I am eligible....
What should I do? I would rather eat one month charge from rogers than have no internet for one day...
Should I call Rogers and cancel and then place order or just place order?
Basically, you placed order to test availability? Then they called you and told you are not eligible but you made them to contact Rogers and verify, right? What did you put in order for the appointments? First available date or 2 months or something?Last edited by e1e0n; Mar 16th, 2011 at 08:57 AM.

I don't live where you do, but I'm in the middle of the transition. Basically I called Rogers first, told them I wanted to cancel. After they gave me the spiel about how they can give me a 20% discount and how internet costs are going up for everyone and that we can't expect to have cheap internet as consumers, they gave me a cancel date. Then I called TSI and they had to contact Rogers to determine that they could set me up. They were supposed to call me in a few days, they never did. Once I called them back, I found out that everything was a go and went ahead with the switch, scheduled to happen on my Rogers cancel date.
I wouldn't worry about it, just go ahead. Rogers won't mind pushing your cancel date forward a month if there's a conflict, or un-cancelling you. Also, since I cancelled, they've called me from India, sent me emails and snail mail, all promising me 20% off AND a $70 mastercard gift card for staying with them!!! Of course I will cover the cost of that giftcard after 6 months of service with TSI at their lower price + no cap overage fees to worry about, but hey, $70 gift card. That's free money.
So I decided to stay with Rogers. Except not really. Maybe if they had come close to matching the TSI price (they can't, they wouldn't even waive the modem fee for me) and the cap. I still don't understand how giving someone 50% more bandwidth (10mbit to 15mbit) but only 30% more download cap works out, unless they expect no linear curve of bandwidth to throughput usage at all...

Wow! I just have got a modem, placed order 16th and 48 hours later got the modem.
Is it good indication that they actually able to give me a service? Or still something could happen?
I will call them to get my activation date moved to somewhere beginning of the week so I will have more time to resolve any possible issues.
