Called their support line but been on hold for half an hour. Automated message says they have a dhcp issue in missiauga area as of july 24? I think they mean june. However there's no mention of markham.. Is anyone elses in the markham area down?

Ok at first, i tested the modem itself to make sure its not the router problem. When i had the modem plugged directly into my laptop it wasn't working as well.
Now i tried again 30 minutes later and im now getting connection straight from modem but not through router.
Would this be a router issue or it still could be a dhcp issue from the modem? Im wondering why it wasn't working straight from modem earlier but it is working straight from modem now.

Did you turn off the cable modem for 1 minute before turning it back on while connecting it to the router? The MAC addresses are different from your laptop than your main router so it would explain why you're not getting an Internet access.

yep, call them this morning its roger's DHCP not giving IP address
they put a ticket out to rogers they took down my physical address of my modem they said 48 hours -.-
first time this has happen to me
when you can't get ip address from router windows assign a ip like 168.x.x.x
sigh
another thing you can try is
unplug your cable from modem have it connect to a PC restart it
192.168.100.1 to access your router and config -> reset defaults to see if it fixes it, if not call teksavvy they need rogers to fix itLast edited by balance; Jun 25th, 2012 at 12:00 PM.

My internet (along with many others in the GTA) was down last week for half the day.
It was a DHCP issue on Roger's end.
I know this has been a recurring problem for Teksavvy customers.

yeah my friend's CIK internet was going on and off yesterday night. I believe CIK uses rogers as well.
Right now it seems to have been fixed. Hopefully it doesn't go down again. Just wasted over an hour trying to troubleshoot when its rogers problem.
