Well, the furnace is in the basement. Could be carbon monoxide poisoning.

Could be the drugs. I mean he did own a drug company and had free access to any drugs.

The police said they are not currently seeking any suspects, so my bet is either CO poisoning or murder/suicide.

Here 'n There
Actually, that Toronto Sun article which you did not post (Murder-suicide suspected in deaths of Toronto billionaire and wife) provides some more interesting information that it was the real estate agent, Judi Gottleib from Forest Hill Real Estate, who could not contact the owners for a showing she had and therefore entered the home (likely because she had the lockbox code). She found them dead. Also, they were selling their home to build a new one closer to downtown Toronto and had a vacation planned to Florida next week.

And then this is additional tidbit from the article:

'Sources close to the case believe Honey may have been killed in a secondary location in the $6.9 million Old Colony Rd. house and then moved to the location where she was later found with her deceased husband.

So, you are a workaholic cantankerous (all the articles say) billionaire that was very generous in giving tens of millions to charity, had a planned vacation in Florida the next week, were selling your home and having a new one built but then you suddenly kill your wife, drag her body to your indoor pool, hang her up and then commit suicide by hanging yourself?

This is a really weird one!

Indeed, you don’t build a multi-billion dollar pharmaceutical company by being a nice guy.

Check out the pictures of the house. Never new billionaires lived like this. 1980s dryer with a mismatched "Scratch and Dent" washer (note the big dents on the bottom). 1980s old style CRT TV.

Everything is well kept. It just looks like a billionaires house from the 80’s... he probably did up the place and kept it like that.
I doubt he does his own laundry... and maybe doesnt watch tv.
